Main Contractor for this stunning cliff edge new-build dwelling as featured on Channel 4’s Grand Designs. Working closely with the client and the design team we overcame the many challenges posed by working to a degree of precision more usually encountered in engineering. We would not have succeeded had it not been for the wealth of detail provided in the painstakingly prepared drawings.
‘Working with Inner World on Cefn Castell has been the most pleasurable experience in my time in architecture. From the outset, Inner World had an attention to detail and a commitment to get things millimetre perfect which you do not generally find in day to day practice.
This was critical in achieving detailing which appears simple and pure, but ultimately is the hardest discipline to actually realise. Inner World are what we would term an ‘artisan’ contractor with an refreshing attitude to construction that is not in line with today’s high pressure demands on delivery.
The product had to perfect irrespective of how long it took them to get the right result. Inner World offered bespoke design solutions demonstrating an amazing knowledge of product placement, detailing and construction techniques. For an architect this is the perfect relationship to achieve the seamless quality the detailing demanded at Cefn Castell. This balanced against great on site working relationships with a skilled craft based workforce, reinforced very strong personal bonds and design team ethic.
The whole process for everyone involved has been a truly memorable experience, and one thoroughly enjoyed by all. Stephenson ISA STUDIO hope to work with Inner World again in the near future.’
