NATIONAL TRUST BODNANT GARDENS NEW BRIDGES PROJECT

New bridges and refurbished bridges in this iconic Welsh garden.

Opening up of a new section of the garden required a new vehicular access bridge and a vehicular bund across the low lying flood bed. This required sensitive major landscaping and flood mitigation works. At the same time other bridges were replaced elsewhere in the garden. European oak was used to faithfully reproduce the distinctive carpentry which can be seen throughout these important gardens.

As a listed National treasure, it was vital that the style and heritage of the Gardens was reflected in our work. At the same time it was essential that the public were not endangered or inconvenienced in any way. Along with serious issues relating to Phytophthera biosecurity and the requirement to avoid damage to planted areas made this a challenging but very rewarding project.

Our works included: the Civil engineering and storm drainage works required to construct the new road bund, Precision laser setting out, Pressure grouting of the waterfall façade, Stone masonry – both new and remedial, Specialist concrete repairs, Steel fabrication and fixing along with all the Oak carpentry required.
